Indeed, in recent years, alkaline water has become a very popular topic, it is said to bring a lot of benefits. There are studies on both sides. Some researchers are trying to demonstrate the "miraculous" effects of alkaline water, while other experts say it is not exactly miraculous.
From my point of view, alkaline water could not combat lack of sleep, stress and poor quality food, factors that increase the acidic environment in the body. Alkaline water can instead hydrate the body more effectively and alkalize the blood.
My opinion is that we should not abuse water or alkaline foods, because no matter how acidic or basic we eat, everything will balance inside due to the processes of our body. Therefore, the body will always maintain an optimal pH for functioning, and the idea of alkaline foods is just a marketing strategy, without scientific evidence to prove these benefits.
I believe that in order to lose weight and prevent certain diseases there should be a balance in our lives, to take care of our diet and sleep, to have physical activities and of course to avoid stress and enjoy what nature offers us.
Regarding "The Acidosis Cycle", the latest nutrition researches has shown that calcium depletion in acidosis does not lead to osteoporosis, as metabolic acidosis is compensated mainly by respiratory mechanisms and calcium removal from the bones occurs at a minimum, the body using calcium from other sources from where it is easier to use (ex. blood).

ReplyDeleteSome high acid foods are healthy and good to include as part of a healthy, balanced diet, including oats, walnuts, eggs, kefir and meat. Look for minimal amounts of processed foods, and include fruits, vegetables and whole foods in your diet to help achieve better health and improve overall quality of life.

The alkaline diet is based on the idea that replacing acid-forming foods with alkaline foods can improve your health. Proponents of this diet even claim that it can help fight serious diseases like cancer. By choosing more alkaline foods, you should be able to “alkalize” your body and improve your health. The best sources of alkaline foods are citrus fruits and fruits like: lime, nectarine, watermelon, pineapple,grapefruit, olive, lemon. Bean and vegetables like: sweet potato, lentil, broccoli, onion, garlic, pumpkin. Oil seeds and nuts: pumpkin seeds, poppy seed, cashew, almond, sesame, and sea salt, mineral water, green tea, baking soda.
I read in a recent article that researchers usually state that consuming more or less acidic or alkaline foods rarely has any impact on the pH level of the blood. When there are high levels of acid in the blood, it is usually due to underlying conditions such as diabetes or kidney problems.
