    1. So, while detox diets don’t do anything that your body can’t naturally do on its own, you can optimize your body’s natural detoxification system.Your body has a sophisticated way of eliminating toxins that involves the liver, kidneys, digestive system, skin, and lungsAlthough no current evidence supports the use of detox diets for removing toxins from your body, certain dietary changes and lifestyle practices may help reduce toxin load and support your body’s detoxification system.

Even though I am not an advocate of detox diets, I am convinced that consuming wheatgrass juice regularly helps the digestive system in many ways. Due to its high chlorophyll content, it is considered beneficial in blood regeneration, radiation protection and detoxification of pollutants by removing heavy metals. Wheatgrass not only is an energy booster and strong anti-oxidant but also cleanses the body. It is associated with many health benefits as part of a balanced diet.

One of the most important functions of the human liver is to safely remove toxins from our blood. It filters drugs, alcohol, many foreign substances and thus supports physiologic detoxification. Even if detox diets may have their short-term benefits, there are several studies that do not support the necessity of following detox diet in order to cleanse the digestive system. They rather assess the need to ensure a balanced, clean diet and lifestyle that supports our liver's health. Therefore, I consider that focusing on our liver's health is more relevant, more important than any type of detox diet method.

Unfortunately, there is no universal method to have a healthy liver. There are several factors that influence, during the lifetime, the proper function of the human liver. I believe one should see a specialist to evaluate if there are medical/chronic issues or illness to address first. If it’s a matter of adjusting some bad eating habits, or unhealthy lifestyle (like drinking or smoking) a nutritionist should be able perform a complex evaluation of general health status of the patient (eating/drinking, sports, working, resting, medical history etc.) and then build a proper plan to improve the patient’s well-being – that includes meal plan, food education, healthy cooking tips, even sports recommendations.

  4. Detox therapies are most commonly recommended because of potential exposure to toxic chemicals in the environment or your diet. These include pollutants, synthetic chemicals, heavy metals ans other harmful compounds. These diets are also claimed to help with various health problems including : obesity, digestive issues, autoimmune diseases, inflammations, allergies, bloating and chronic fatigue. Some people report feeling more focused and energetic during and after detox diet, but also many people report feeling very unwell during the detox period. I am not a friend of these short-term interventions designed to eliminate toxins from our bodies. Jidveian Ioana Cristina.

  6. After almost 6 years of experience as a nutritionist, I came to the conclusion that the detoxification diet is useful. Its usefulness is expressed by the fact that everything in this world needs regular updates. It is important to take into account: health status, age and so on individual features.
No matter how healthy we are eating , people need times to help their body detoxify. This would mean approaching a fasting diet that would contain foods with a low and medium glycemic index, no sugar, fries, alcohol, with sufficient hydration, massage procedures, sauna, physical and mental rest. Once or twice a year it is wonderful to take care of our body in which we live!

  7. I don’t believe that the perfect detox diet exists, although I consider that detoxifying can be done just by combining the cleanse of the mind, body and soul. By improving your diet, paying more attention what you eat and drink, you can detox the body. Detoxifying the soul is done by giving up on the toxic people in your life and take on habits that bring joy, like arts. The negative information that is everywhere around us can lead to negative thoughts that intoxicate the mind, so by keeping them away and surrounding yourself with positive people and events, the mind can be detoxified. You cannot fully detoxify one without taking care of the rest, but detox diets may be a good place to start for some of us.

They're popular, but they aren't proven to do what they say they'll do, for example, flush toxins out of your system. In fact, they may be risky and even backfire.
You'll be hungry and may feel weak. Whether or not a detox diet is safe depends on the plan and how long you stay on it.
Most people don’t feel good on low-calorie, nutrient-poor diets. Potential side effects include low energy, low blood sugar, muscle aches, fatigue, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and nausea.
If your goal is weight loss, a detox diet might help you drop a few pounds, but you’ll likely just gain it back. In the end, you haven’t accomplished anything, and it’s certainly not a healthy approach.
The only type of detox diet that is worthwhile is one that limits processed, high-fat, and sugary foods, and replaces them with more whole foods like fruits and vegetables. That clean-eating approach is your best way to detox the body and mind.

I do agree with you, and I also believe that hunger caused by fasting can affect both your body and mind, thus Impairing your decision making and weakening your body

  9. Nowadays people are obsessed with the idea of looking perfect by having a slim body. There are a lot of different kinds of diets that help you to lose weight and detox your body but they can be harmful to your health. To begin with, according to studies our body is completely capable of excreting toxins without the aid of those diets because our liver, kidney, lungs and even the skin are designed to do it . Second of all, some people believe the fact that detox diets work if you just stick with them without doing sports, but most of them will regain the pounds which they lost or more because they prefer to turn back to unhealthy style of living. To avoid that we have to do sport and eat in moderation to keep our body fit and healthy.

  10. I'm not a fan of detox diets and I didn't even tried any before. Although their purpose is to improve or help the body to remove toxins, thing that he is anyway scheduled to do, I think these diets have a relatively short term effect, for those who rarely use them, and because not everyone can afford to consume only natural juices and vegetables for a week, especially those suffering from various disease that do not allow such diets. It would be much more handy if we had a balanced diet, if we reduce as much as possible those factors that harm our health - high fat aliments, alcoholic drinks, smoking, stress, a pessimistic thinking etc. and if, of course, we do more sports!

Many of us when we say detox we are thinking about food detox, but what about mental detox? Just like our bodies need a period of time to remove toxins so our minds need a period of time to eliminate negative thoughts. Toxins are not only in the food we eat, mental and emotional "toxins" are important to be cleanse too.
The emotional-mental detox can help us to: eliminate the emotional causes of illness allowing our bodies to begin healing, to remove energetic blocks and restore the normal flow of energy, to eliminate fears, stress and subconcious limitations.
In my opinion, the perfect detox diet should combine the food diet with sports and also with meditation and mind clearing techniques. We have to purify our physical, emotional and mental and energy body by toxic thoughts, attitude, beliefs, emotions. We have to learn to forgive or appologize, to love and to find our inner peace.

  12. In my opinion , that kind of diet is very effectively after a long period of eating unhealthy food , especially when you want to cleanse your organism, for example after a holiday or vacation . Also , detox diet means eating natural fats and oils (for example , extra virgin olive oil and organic coconut oil provide energy for the detox and biotransformation processes) ,nuts and seeds ,fruits , vegetables ,legumes and so on - products that help to increase the health . So , as the title of this method said , the detox is the safest way to detoxify the body .

  13. I think that our livers and kidneys, when healthy, do a great job of cleansing our body on a daily basis. I, personally, haven't tried detox diet because there isn't proved that this diet cleans the body. However, I'm not against detox diet. I read about this diet and I think that eating fruits and taking a break from fatty foods is actually a great idea because even the livers needs a break. Detox diet is also a great way to start eating fewer calories but just on short term. I personally think that a balanced diet is the best for losing weight in a healthy way.

  14. Detox diets are commonly used for quick weight loss, to debloat the body, to remove toxins for better health, and for other advertised benefits. Detox plans may last anywhere from three days to seven days and even up to two weeks.
Most detox plans significantly reduce your carbohydrate intake. Foods like baked goods, processed convenience meals, starchy snacks, and even fruits are often restricted. A common side effect of low-carbohydrate diets is water loss. But a detox diet substantially limits your solid food intake. In fact, broth or juice-based detoxes are very common and they allow for no solid food. By reducing the weight of solid food that your body normally carries you are likely to see a drop in the number on the scale.

  15. As everyone already mentioned the detox diet can help our body to get rid of toxins that are damaging the body. I can firmly say that it's a very effective way to give your stomach a break and to let all your body's energy to deal with healing the damage resulted from a poor diet or an unhealthy life style. I tried detoxification lots of times and I was feeling so energic, my body was in such a good shape, my skin was getting clearer and lots of other benefits made me realize that it's worth doing it.
I will recommend this diet to all of my patients to try it at least once in 3 months.

In my opinion the main premise of detox diets is that detoxification through diet is the only way to rid our bodies of the chemicals and toxins that seep into our bodies through air, food, and water on a daily basis.

  17. Fasting recharges you. It is known from the Holy Bible. In these days fasting is used not only for religious reasons but for dietetical reasons. For example: loosing weight. These dietetical reasons can be healthy but can also be unhealthy, if it is done in a wrong way.

  18. Detox diets have become very popular nowadays. Their scope is to improve health and eliminate toxins from the body.
It also can be called a way of fasting, but in my opinion detox diets are not as hard as fasting.

  19. Personally, I’m quite against detox diets for two reasons. Firstly, despite the fact, that it could have good results very fast, in means of weight loss, after finishing it, it’s very likely to gain those kgs back. And secondly, our body has its own methods for getting rid of toxins, so with a very strict diet we could substitute those natural mechanisms. But of course, it could be also helpful, if it’s not too extreme and it’s not held for too long.

Detox diets are very controversial, and rightfully so. Detoxing can mean many things from healthy diets that lacks processed foods, to weird concoctions that may make you scrunch up your nose like barley-lemon juice. I personally don’t consider these juices efficient. Sure a healthy diet helps your body to get rid of toxins, and you should definitely help it if you can, but at the end of the day our liver is the one doing the detoxing for us. We don’t have to drink disgusting mixtures when we can just adapt healthy eating habits and let our bodies do the work for us

  21. Detox is a word and a subject very discussed in our days.
We live in a world full of toxins. These are in the air we breathe, in the water we drink, in the food we eat. Our body has the ability to detoxify naturally.
But in the times we live, its ability to clean itself is far outweighed by the invasion of toxic compounds that are practically everywhere. Processed food, alcohol, caffeine, drugs, stress are just a few of the enemies in the path of detoxification.
Over time, these toxins begin to accumulate in the body resulting in fatigue, weight gain, allergies, digestive problems, depression.
A lot of people are not informed of what this proces means, and belive în all kind of pills and juices that promise them losing wheigt and feeling incredible and reborn în 7 days. This is not detox, is just fake promise and money thrown away.
Soo, for us to say detox is beneficial is important to try to live everyday choosing to take care of us, of what we eat and how we choose to live.

The fact that detox diets are so popular is one of the reasons that shoe we need better trained nutritionists/dieticians. The detox diets claim to make you healthier and slimmer, both in a short period of time, i consider them useless, as you surely are way better off implementing small changes in terms of your lifestyle every week than trying one of those "detox diets" that promotes drinking celery juice 10 times a day as being "healthy". On top of all that, i think we need more educated people overall as i ststrongly believe that most detox diets are jist a marketing scheme to earn easy money from desperate people that are not able to lose weight on their own

    1. I agree that small changes on long terms can make your lifestyle better, but i also think that is good to break the habit from time to time, so a detox diet two or three times a year has no way to harm.

  23. We’ve heard a great deal about detox diets lately, maybe because it became a trend or maybe because it really works out. There are lots of options for these diets, so what we must focus on are health benefits they bring to us. This aspect should really NOT be ignored, because first of all our target is to be healthyer and feel better, and after these two with some extra work comes the good look, our interes is not to damage more our organisms. I think we should just pay attention and if we want to follow this kind of diet my suggestion would be to choose the right one, even if is tenting to choose the easiest one. There are many ways to get your body clean and healthy, and i think this could be one of them.

  24. A detox diet refers to a method, in short time (7-10 days), of following certain rules , which focus on removing toxins from the body. Have you ever wondered why detox diets with juice don't work? There is no substantial scientific evidence to support these diets.
Toxins are substances that are found in the food, in the environment, in the air and in water, being substances that contribute to the disease.
The truth is that the human body is capable of eliminating toxins. Our kidneys, liver and intestines are involved in this physiological process. They are important organs that work to remove toxins and waste products from our body.
In my opinion, detox diets are overestimated. Our body works alone as long as the toxins are within certain limits.

  25. A detox diet or a cleanse is a healthy way to reset the body’s systems.
What most people don’t know is that detoxification is an internal cleansing process. Your body does this naturally and very efficiently every day.
The body’s detoxification system is made up of six organs: skin, respiratory system, liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal system, lymphatic system.
Detoxing for a short amount of time is a manageable way to clean your system, sleep better, jumpstart your weight loss, improve your skin, clear your mind and boost your energy levels.
However if you follow a restrictive or prolonged detox you may experience:
    Lack of energy, fatigue and dizziness;
    A possible increase in cravings because of food restrictions;
    Nutrient deficiencies. Moga C.

If I hear detox it always comes to my mind those models in the films with a green shake in their hand and crying because of their body image. I think that the word detox became trendy to use if we speak about lifestyle based on healthy eating. Detox is the way that we want to detoxify our body, but my question is: 30-40 years ago what was the way to detoxify, probably some herbal tea? I do not support detox because I believe that each of our organs has a role to play and we only need to ensure that they work healthily. Because I don’t think that a periodic detox can repair an organism that has been devastated before.
