Introduction to our class blog - The most exquisite food I have tasted

Hello dear students in Nutrition, welcome to your class blog. Instead of introductions, I would like you to comment to this post by writing one or two sentences about the most exquisite food you have tasted (no longer than 50 words).
Because I could not include a picture in my first comment below, I am inserting it here. It illustrates me eating the scones in Grantchester UK in 2010.

Comments

  1. Have you ever tasted English scones? They are a kind of traditional sweet served with the afternoon tea in Britain. I once served them with cream tea in the Orchard Tea Garden in Grantchester near Cambridge, a famous place visited by equally famous writers such as Virginia Woolf. Here is a recipe https://linguacuisine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Scones.pdf

When it comes to food, the story becomes rather passionate, in the sense that from the first days of life humans associate the food offered by the mother with love and care.

As for me, I prefer simple, raw, or steam cooked fresh food. However, the food's looks and feel are strongly important to me, thus I enjoy vivid and colourful dishes which stir up emotions. Our social, friendly and family relationships often take place when food is involved.

The most exquisite food I have ever tasted is also associated with emotions. It was 'pasta con tartufo', and I had the opportunity to enjoy it in an ancient and famous villa located on the hills of Tuscany, Italy. The villa dates back to the Renaissance era and it was an important meeting point of great Italian personalities, at that time. Its rooms are decorated almost identical with the initial ones, the furniture and the painted walls are the same, and the atmosphere still feels aristocratic.

As I said before about simply cooked food, in order to make 'pasta con tartufo' you only need fresh pasta, olive oil and tartufo. The flavors offered by this meal are scrumptious and mesmerizing. Tartufo is a fungus found buried into the ground, in the forests of Northern Italy. The hassle of procuring it, and its scarce character, turns it into a delicacy. Tartufo has a strong and unique flavor. You can either love it or dislike it. One kg of quality tartufo can reach up to EUR 3500 per kg.

  3. For me the most surprising food i ever tasted was in a summer holiday when i wanted to taste some new kind of sea fruits, which i love the most.
I ordered lobster, knowing that there will be a hole in the pocket.. and there was in the stomach too by the end of the evening.
The meat was very sweet indeed but the procedure to get to it very hard. I was ashame to ask for help..After a good fight with those instruments for surgery of the crab, i barely got some tiny pieces and i declared full and drank some water.
But indeed, the taste was delicious.:)

  4. For me the most interesting thing I have ever tasted, was, actually were the things that reminded me of my childhood, before becoming vegan, those foods that where part of my almost every meal like milk, cheese, eggs. I accepted to give up those kind of foods for various reasons, but I gave up phisically, emotionally, I admit, it was pretty hard. So every time I taste a dish that reminds me of my every day foods, immediately feel overwhelmed and tears in my eyes are starting to flow all over my face. E.g. when I first tried a vegan donut. I have never thought I will ever ever again donuts. I was ok with my decision, but when I found that they exist I couldn't resist not to buy some😅 They were amazing, and not healthy, but amazing.

It is not about the most exquisite food I have ever, there are the people. Many of the great food memories are from my childhood. I remember each meal not just because of how it tasted but also because of who was there. The food my mother made me is the best because it's the food I grew accustomed to eating. It becomes my “favorite food.” I compare everything else to this.

I wanna tell you about a miraculos fruit names avocado. Avocados contain more fat than any other fruit or vegetable. Also, the trees contain enzymes that prevent the fruit from ever ripening on the tree, allowing farmers to use the trees as storage devices for up to 7 months after they reach full maturity, allowing avocados to always be in season. I eat avocado every day amd I just love its taste

Because my origines are greek, I grow up with greek tipes of dishes.
My exquisite food I have ever tasted until now, is my grandmother`s leek pie, a traditional greek dish(prasopita- in greek).
There is nothing good than the smell of fresh baked homemade leek pie made by my grandmother, the smell of my childhood, the time when the whole family were together on Christhmas, Easter or birthdays.

  8. Well, when I talk about food, I`m thinking of noodles. I started to notice that I`m in love with spicy food, and that`s what I want to tell you about .
At the beginning, I couldn`t ate that kind of food. It was like all my mouth was on fire. But it was a sensation Iwanted to feel again.
The internet also says that spicy food can help you lose weight, which can fool your mind and make you feel better about the fact that you're eating.

  9. I like to try many foreign food dishes and every time when i go on holiday in other countries i try to taste something new, something special.
So in Greece I tasted pasta with octopus , and I really liked it.
I love seafood, but the octopus still did not eat until then.
Seafood is a high-protein food that is low in calories, total fat, and saturated fat. High in vitamins and
minerals, seafood has been shown to have numerous health benefits. For example, recent studies have shown
that eating seafood can decrease the risk of heart attack, stroke, obesity, and hypertension.

  10. I never thought that I would say that, but I was pleasantly surprised about how delicious the vegan food is. I've always consumed meat, so I thought the food can't be tasty without animal products. I was wrong. I tasted vegan food and I noticed that we can prepare good food just using vegetables.

The travels and the holidays are the ones that give us the opportunity to know people, customs, traditions, religions and, of course, new foods. Among the delights I experienced: indian, chinese, turkish, mexican, greek, italian, spanish, german, french, dutch, I mostly enjoyed the mediterranean cuisine with a great diversity and joy of tastes. I left the choice of recommending a traditional dish to the chef and, in front of me ,appeared a plate with a strange combination: seafood, avocado, cheese. The freshly baked dish served in a clay pot was really surprising. Unfortunately, the recipe was not accessible to me, but I highly recommend the "crab ristorante" in the center of Rome, in the shadow of the imperial Colosseum.

  12. Norway, also known as the "Land of Fiords", impressed me a few years ago with the simplicity of the people, the modern living and the amazing beauty of the places. The basic food in the norwegian diet is fish. So, in the port of Bergen, the "Fish Fair" is organized annually full of a variety of fish based dishes. Such an absolutely delicious meal that has been in my mind since then is "Viking Salmon" served with black rye bread strips. The original recipe is unknown to me, but the taste is a combination of sweet, salty and aromatic. ARIANA HRETIUC

  13. Whem it comes to food , it always seems to be such confusing . Nowadays we are used with such a variety of foods that we cand choose every single thing we are craving for , and it's so easy to access it or to afford it . We have no more borders , no more restrictions and every culture seems to expose its secrets about its cuisine to everyone curious to descover it . Regarding to the most excuisite food I have ever tasted it's also not that simple to choose , because of such a large amount of elements tasted over the years . For me , personally , it is a really hard decision to make when it comes to choose something from a menu , but sometimes I let myself being advised by the waiter of the chef and once , it was a very brave but also , really amazing choise . This happened the first time I wisited Prague , the gorgeous capital of the Czech Republic , when the chef recomended us to try his special delight , fig souce frog legs , a choise I never regreted . It is deffinetely the most excuisite food I have ever tasted and the symphony created by the scented and sweet taste of figs , with the tenderness of the meat and the hotness of the chilli flakes made me remember it every single time when I think about the perfect meal .

  14. When it comes to the most exquisite food I have ever tried , the story beggins in the moment I visited Spain , and encouraged by the chef of an traditional spanish restaurant , I ate a course called Navajas . It is a traditional fish delight , and it is served as a hot grilled meal , after it it was marinated for a few hours in some salty water for eliminating the sand and also for offering some tenderness . When served , the sheath that covers the product breaks and it is reccomended to be served with olive oil and lemon juice .

  15. I have always loved seafood and a great experience I had with it, was two years ago , during my trip to the Danube Delta .In addition to the beautiful views ,there is a large variety of fish-dishes available to order. I had the opportunity to taste many types of fish, native to the area . What impressed me the  most was the sheatfish soup. It has a slightly sour taste and contains also a lot of vegetables.
The chefs have a good style to prepare all kinds of fish and make it to taste delicious!

But the most exquisite dish I ve eaten did not astonished me with it s taste but with it s source, it was a normal barbeque, and tasted close to pork meat... but it was horse meat, wich is tasty too if it is cooked properly.

  17. Whenever someone asks me this question I immediately respond with
' Breton buckwheat pancakes'. It's a savoury crepe found almost
everywhere in France. I've tried it filled with ham, cheese and eggs, however I'm sure the varieties have grown over time. If you find yourself wandering around Paris, be sure to give it a try!

  18. My most courageous venture was eating dried and salted grasshoppers from Thailand, where these little insects are bred for human consumption. Thais consume them as snack in different flavours like we eat chips here. The difference is that dried grasshoppers are rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. As taste experience it is surprisingly delicious if you can forget about the fact that you’re eating insects. I would say it is a “once in a lifetime “ thing to try.

I will let the curiosity do it's job :).

  20. I lived in a small city, so I can say that i didn't have the chance to eat a large amount of exquisite food. I'd like to eat foie gras sometime, I heard it is good. Anyways, I'm planning to travel a lot, so tasting a lot of exquisite food is definitely on the list. Burgers are my favourite, so I'll eat burgers everywhere I'll go.

This summer I had the opportunity to visit Finland. And also I had the chance to taste one of their traditional dish. It's about - Salmon Soup - Lohikeitto (in Finnish). It's utterly (complet) simple and so satisfying - made with fresh salmon, chunky potatoes, carrots and leeks. The flavors are unpretentious and clean, with a traditional dill infused broth touched with allspice.

The most interesting food I have tasted was Moussaka. This is a traditional Greek food,I ate Moussaka just once, but I liked it so much.I ate the versions that have a top layer made of milk-based sauce thickened with egg and flour (béchamel sauce). In Greece this food is layered and typically served hot. Exist variations on basic recipe, sometimes with no top sauce, sometimes with other vegetables. Such variants may include, in addition to the eggplant slices, sauteed zucchini slices,part-fried potato slices,or sauteed mushrooms. I tried to make it at home, but i can't make it to be the same.

I have never been out of the country , but one time I ate a famous dessert from Turkey.Baklava is a rich, sweet dessert pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup or honey. My friends said that the one they cook in Turkey is way better than the one I ate but I hope one day I will have the chance to taste the original one.

  25. I don't eat exquisite food, but the best dessert that I have ever eaten is tiramisu. When I was in holiday in Rome, I ate the most delicious tiramisu. I remember its fantastic taste even now, when I write this text. I have often eaten tiramisu, but never as good as that one. Well-moistured cake with coffee fit perfectly with fluffy cream. All the charm of Italy was found in this dessert.

  27. For me, the most exquisit food, I’ve ever tasted is pineapple. I think that they were made for me or I was made for the pineapples. They are the most delicious fruits of the globe, I could eat them all day long. Even though, I almost never have a sweet tooth and I don’t really like anything sweet, pineapples’ sweetness perfectly matches my taste.

  29. When it comes to try new things, I'm usually not too excited (or maybe I'm just a little bit afraid), but I think everybody should try at least once this kind of exquisite food made by using simple ingredients: home made mayonnaise with apple, cheese and sweet corn.

  30. Last year I have tried seafood. I was not that excited because of the texture, it was too pulpy and I wasn't attract to it. I think I will not try again seafood, except for fish, that I really like. Anyhow, I am open for new experience in food, expecially spicy food.

It's not a very interesting food but it was exquisite for me when I have tasted it. I was about 7-8 years old, walking on the seaside in Italy with my mom and some relatives when we've entered a restaurant, but it looked more like a fast-food restaurant. Everybody has ordered some kind of seafood, I was eating crab for the first time. I don't remember the taste of it at all, but I remember that it had an awesome taste.
